Choosing a flight school involves much more than deciding where you want to fly.
At our latest Open Day at Aerodynamics Academy, future pilots and their families asked us about training duration, financing, English requirements, course format and medical certification.
These were five of the questions that came up again and again.

During that time, students progress through theoretical instruction and practical flight training within a single integrated programme designed for those pursuing a professional pilot career.
The 19-month timeframe is an estimate rather than an identical schedule for every student. Progress can vary due to factors inherent in flight training, including weather conditions, student availability and progress, the scheduling of different training phases and official examination dates.
Can commercial pilot training be financed?
Yes. A financing option is available for eligible students, with the possibility of deferring capital repayments for up to five years.
Interest remains payable during this period. Approval and the final financing terms are subject to the lender’s assessment.
What level of English do I need for Integrated ATPL training?
Students need an English level equivalent to B2 or above to start the Aerodynamics Academy Integrated ATPL programme.
English is part of everyday professional aviation. It is used throughout training, in technical documentation, in aeronautical communications and, subsequently, in airline operations.
Is Integrated ATPL training delivered in person?
Yes. The Integrated ATPL programme is delivered in person.
This format brings theoretical and practical training together within a single schedule and allows each student’s progress to be monitored directly.
For students considering a private pilot licence first, the theoretical part of the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) course can also be completed through distance learning.
How long is a Class 1 medical certificate valid?
A Class 1 medical certificate is generally valid for 12 months.
Under EASA Part-MED, the validity period is reduced to six months for pilots aged 60 or above and, from the age of 40, for certain single-pilot commercial air transport operations carrying passengers.
For future students, the validity period is not the only consideration. It is advisable to complete the initial Class 1 medical examination before making a major financial commitment to professional flight training.
